The AutoDBS-1 is the first in a line of low cost DBS biological sampling tools designed to simplify the extraction of blood components from a DBS Tomtec or third-party card using a 3mm or 5mm punch. This semi-controllable instrument interacts with LIMS to track removed plugs as they are transferred to 96-well assays. Sample tracking is done using a barcode on every Tomtec PDMS card. To remove the blank, the user places the Tomtec PDMS card on the indexing tray. The assigned target is highlighted to identify it. The user then places the target point under the set of highlighted crosshairs and the plug is automatically extracted.
